Tysons Corner, VA
Located in Northern Virginia between Mclean and Vienna Town and along the Capital Beltway (495). Tysons covers an area of approximately 4.27 square miles.
Although considered suburban to Washington DC, Tysons is an urban setting and considered the ‘downtown’ of Fairfax County. Tysons is considered an ‘Edge City’ a term given to areas with a high concentration of business, shopping and entertainment
Tysons is steeped in history, but 2 interesting facts, before it was Tysons this large parcel of land was a peach orchard that was purchased by William Tyson from Maryland. He named it Tysons Crossroads, later changed to Tysons Corner and now to Tyson. The intersection of route 123 and route 7 was never all the roads or the place everyone thinks it is, it was actually a pass through for transporting people or goods from Washington DC to Leesburg. Now, Tysons is the home to two Regional Malls, Tysons Corner Mall and the Galleria (sometimes called Tysons II). Tysons is the corporate headquarters to Intelsat, Gannett, Hilton, Freddie Mac, Capital One, Booze Allen, Mitre, Spacenet and many other companies. Tysons is considered Fairfax County’s central business district.
Some the attractions for young and old include upscale shopping and designer boutiques, restaurants, movie theater, skating rink at Tysons Mall, Wolftrap National Park for the Performing Arts, Filene Center at Wolftrap, Meadowlark Botannical Gardens (Christmas Lights), the Plaza at Tysons Corner Mall used for skating during the winter months and concerts and events when the weather is warmer, Memorial Day festival (Viva Vienna) in town of Vienna, local theater, 1st Stage at Springhill Road, Springhill Recreation Center and District Park, Freedom Hill Park, Mclean Farmers Market, Lewinsville Park, several fitness and gyms that offer personal training, crossfit, barre classes, yoga and pilates
Major roads: Rte 123 runs north and south from DC to Woodbridge and Rt 7 runs east to west from DC to Leesburg. Dulles Toll Road, running from Rt 66 to Dulles Airport. Commuter services, buses and Metro. The Silver Line recently opened with 4 stops in the Tysons area with a Mclean stop, another at Tysons Corner, Spring Hill and Greensboro
Walkability- Tysons is fantastic location with easy walk to metro, commuter buses, shops, entertainment, restaurants and hotels. Tysons has approximately 25,000 residents, with approximately 100,000 people commuting in and out of the area.

Tysons has several different types and styles of houses and homes that appeal to many people in different price ranges, there are many new high rise apartment rentals, luxury high rise condominium complexes, townhouse style condominium, luxury townhouse with garage space, townhouses and detached homes. The most notable condos in Tysons area would be Park Crest, Rotonda, both are luxury high rise condos complex with concierge services, pools, fitness and business centers. There is Lillian Court, which is mid-rise condo complex with a club house, outdoor pool and fitness center. Many of the newer apartment units are open concept, light and taller ceilings.
Not one school district, but several feeder schools that feed into possibly 3 different high school pyramids. The immediate schools in Tysons are Westbriar Elementary with a rating of 10, Kilmer Center with a rating of 10, Kilmer Middle School with a rating of 9 and George C Marshall High School with a rating of 9. Basis Independent of Mclean is located on Jones Branch Road and will be accepting applications for pre-k-12th grade.
